A major challenge for almost every club across the country at present is to create an environment to transition young lads from Juvenile to Adult Hurling. It is widely agreed that this challenge has not been helped by moving the Minor age grade from U18 to U17.
While it is expected the GAA will move the minor age grade back to U18 in 2024, many challenges still exist to ensure our young lads are given every opportunity to transition to adult hurling through an engaging pathway. Our youth face many challenges moving from teenager to young adults and our club can play a vital supporting role on this journey.
Whether that is playing Junior B or Senior Hurling our Club should be able to provide an inclusive environment for all of our young men.
Looking forward Newtownshandrum GAA Club is aiming to fulfil this role to the best of our ability. We are all well aware there is no magic formula, however, we hope to take the first step in creating this pathway through hosting an Open Meeting next Tuesday night Dec 13th @ 8pm.
